Our Home

In 1878 Thomas Hardy transformed an old flour mill on the main street of McLaren Vale into The Hardys Tintara winery. Today, we are proud to still call this winery our home.

Our Story

The story of Hardys begins with the very man who gave us his name, Thomas Hardy. From the moment he arrived in Australia in 1850, his ingenuity, determination and hard work built a business that has lasted more than 160 years.

The gardens at Hardys Tintara include a large lawn area, many trees as well as public access barbecue facilities and tables. Our most distinguished garden feature is the enormous Moreton Bay Fig Tree dominating the western side of the Hardys Tintara gardens, planted in around 1868.
